You've Been On My Mind

Sunday, July 28, 2019

The Stampin' Up! catalogues are a valuable source of inspiration for cardmaking.  My card today is an almost exact CASE (Copy and Share Everything) of the card they have included to highlight the Grandma's House stamp set.  It was a tiny bit fiddly but I LOVE the outcome.  I think I will use the shading background effect a lot more now.

The frame is made using two of the Stitched Shapes framelits, one for the inner ring and stitched line, the other to cut around the outside of it.  This is then stuck down on top of the cardstock to give a frame to the circle hole.

The ombre background is achieved by using a sponge brayer.  The house and trees were fussy cut and then gently stuck to the bottom of the layer card and popped up on dimensionals along with the whole top layer.  The sentiment is from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.

Grandma's House is a versatile stamp set that can be used for much more than sending to grandmothers!  I'll definitely be stamping that house and those flowers on the envelope lots more in cards to come!

The World Needs More of You

Sunday, July 21, 2019

I promised I'd be making more cards with our gorgeous DSP and here you have my first card using the brand new products from the 2019-2020 annual catalogue.  You won't have to wait long to see more either!  I am a complete convert to how beautiful cards are when they draw on the paper in this way, and so effortless to make up, it's a dream.

This card uses the Bird Ballard Designer Series Paper as well as the Free as a Bird stamp set.  I stamped off the bird and coloured him in using Blends which helped me get that shading effect.  The sentiment I stamped on a strip of Whisper White and then cut a banner end with my Snips.

Fussy cut the bird, stick him to the end of the banner, and pop the whole lot up using dimensionals.  HOW EASY IS THAT?

What you need to make this:

Free as a Bird stamp set

Bird Ballard DSP

Blends: Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Bronze
Basics: Thick Whisper White cardstock, Snips, Liquid Glue, Dimensionals

Happy crafting,
Fiona x

Children's birthdays

1, 2, 3, 4, 5!

Thursday, July 18, 2019

When I see this card my head starts singing the 1970s numbers song from Sesame Street. (I just had to look it up on YouTube - it's called "Pinball Number Count." For those of you born in the 1970s and before, take a trip down memory lane and look it up! So many memories!!)  The little 5 year old this was made for will probably have his own numbers song stuck in his head, but one thing's for sure, he's so excited to be turning FIVE!

This card uses the Large Numbers framelits and the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set.  I used a brayer to colour each of the letters (or the background to them) in: Daffodil Delight, Mango Medley, Poppy Parade, Lemon Lime Twist, and Pacific Point.  Dug out some old enamel dots for extra colour, and popped the whole lot up on dimensionals.

This fun card is a CASE of Fran Sabad's gorgeous card.

Happy crafting,
Fiona x
