Friendship

Showers of Love

Tuesday, January 29, 2019

Are you a Mary Poppins fan?  THE Mary Poppins film with Julie Andrews?  The magic of it has stayed with me from my childhood, and was recently reawakened when I saw The Return of Mary Poppins.  I love that for her, umbrellas aren't just a means of keeping dry in wet weather, but of conveying something magical, something fun, something loving.  And so it is that I send showers of love to my friends with this card today.

I used the umbrella from the Little Elephant stamp set. Isn't it amazing how often we overlook the non-focus stamps in a set and don't let them shine on their own enough?

I stamped the umbrellas in: Poppy Parade, Mango Medley, Granny Apple Green, Pineapple Punch, and Blueberry Bushel.  The background is watercoloured in Pool Party.  Take a look at the video here to see how I did that and put the card together (read on for card layer dimensions):

Here's a look at the cards with more and less umbrellas.  I think I like more better, how about you?

I even remembered to decorate the envelopes!

Dimensions:

Yellow cardstock - 10" x 5", scored in half
Basic Black cardstock - 4"
Bermuda Bay cardstock - 3 7/8"
Shimmery White cardstock - 3 6/8"

Ink it! Stamp it! Blog hop: New Catalogues

Friday, January 25, 2019

Just when I think I've made enough baby cards to last me for a while, along comes a new stamp set to tempt me back into the baby world.  Fable Friends is TOO CUTE!!!  It's part of the Occasion's catalogue and if you don't have it yet, get it!  You won't regret it.

I watercoloured the little bunny and fussy cut him out.  Then I used the Stitched Framelits dies to cut out a circle.  This I then popped up on dimensionals and layered over some of the Gingham Gala DSP and a strip of Crumb Cake cardstock.

But...!  Once I uploaded the photos into this blog post I wondered if actually it was missing something, and so I did another version, this time shifting bunny over a bit and adding some Whisper White Baker's Twine.  Which do you prefer?  I think I actually like them both the same!

Hop on now and check out the other blogs in this hop and enjoy some creative delights from my fellow design team members:

Sticky Note Holders with Butterflies

Friday, January 18, 2019

I'm gearing up for my first market stall in a few years and have been a busy little bee putting together cards, bunting, and other bits and bobs such as these darling little sticky note holders.

Aren't they just the cutest?  I decorated them with the Gingham Gala Designer Series Paper Stack after making the holders with the coordinating cardstock.

The butterflies were coloured in using my Stampin' Blends in various colours.  At the moment the butterfly stamp set, Butterfly Gala, is bundled with a matching punch so that you can purchase them both at 10% off.  Great deal!

Now watch my video below to see how I put them together and how to get the little magnets on and in just the right place then read on for the measurements of the pieces.

Quick shot of the inside and we're done!!  (Don't forget to decorate your large butterfly with some embellishments of your choice.)

Measurements:
Cardstock: 8" x 3 1/4"
DSP: 3 1/8" x 2", 3 1/8" x 1 7/8"
Score on the long side at 2", 2 3/8", 5 1/2", 5 7/8"

CASEd from Pootles (Sam Donald) with huge thanks.

Thank you

Peachy Thanks

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

I am on a mission to use more DSP on my cards this year.  I have sadly neglected all the gorgeous pages that lie in a box, their beauty hidden to the world.  But, no more!  You are going to see a LOT more patterned papers in my cards from now on.

Both the peaches and the background are from the from the Whole Lot of Lovely DSP.  Sadly it has retired now but this is a layout you can easily recreate using a whole range of patterns in your DSP drawer (go on, admit it, you have one too, don't you?  Get stuck into them crafters!  Let their beauty out!)

The sentiment seemed just right with two peaches and is from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set.  I popped them on squares cut using the Layering Squares framelits.

The colours of the cardstock are Mint Macaron, Mango Medley and Whisper White.

Baby

Thanks for all you do

Friday, January 11, 2019

My neighbour recently had a beautiful baby boy and asked if I could make her three special thank you cards for the medical teams who looked after her.  What an honour!  I hope they love these as much as I do.

Because she wanted to write a great deal inside the card, she asked if I could make them A5 size which I was happy to do.  This allowed me the room to make a background myself using stamps from the A Little Wild stamp set which I coloured in using Stampin' Blends.

I fussy cut out one of the images to stick on the end of my sentiment banner (stamped from the Friendly Expressions stamp set).  The base cardstock is Balmy Blue and the banner is Daffodil Delight.

CAS(E) this Sketch #303

Tuesday, January 08, 2019

To kick the new year off with a bang I'm joining the CAS(E) this Sketch for challenge #303 which is to base a design from this layout:

I admit, I cheated a little and placed the sentiment in the wrong spot, HOWEVER, for me the sentiment is the FROG having fun!!  And the words just emphasise this :)   So, perhaps not cheating after all??

This card uses the free Sale-A-Bration stamp set, So Hoppy Together.  Isn't it just the cutest?

I stamped background Call Me Clover cardstock with the same colour ink for a tone on tone effect.  Then I coloured up the little guy on the unicycle with Blends in Call Me Clover, Crumb Cake, and Smoky Slate oh and the little insects in Daffodil Delight.

And did you notice the rectangular shape?  It's cut using the new Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies and I'M IN LOVE with them!  I've been wanting Stampin' Up! to release something like this for years.  Do yourself a favour, if you don't already have them, grab yourself some today!

I don't often stamp on the inside of my cards but this time I did just to complete the sentiment on the front.

Don't forget to check out all the other talented stampers out there who are also playing along in the CAS(E) this Sketch challenge this week here and show them some love.

Catching Up

Sunday, January 06, 2019

I have been finding photos on my phone of cards on I made in early 2018 and thought I'd post a few together in a catch up post.  I do try and be regular with my blogging, but you know how easily life can throw other deadlines in your way that mess up the best laid plans of mice and men.  So please forgive me!  Here's to a regular, fun, and creative 2019 worth of blog posts.
