Celebration

Let's Celebrate Stripes

Tuesday, November 29, 2016

There are many occasions to celebrate in life and sometimes you need a card that just embraces that.  This one's for a friend of mine who took a radical change of direction in life and has just completed university studies, for the second time!  That's certainly cause for celebration.

This card isn't difficult but it is fiddly.  Cut all your strips of cardstock into 1/4" pieces and make the first piece you stick down the white piece which runs down the middle-ish area that starts off the change in direction.  Stick all these onto a piece of standard Whisper White, the trim off the excess and stick that down on another piece of Whisper White with a slight border.  Easy!

CASED from my lovely grannie upline, Kylie Bertucci.  Thanks Kylie!

Friendship

You're the Friend...

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

...everyone wishes they had.  I bet you are too!  We all need one of those friends in our life, don't we?

It's the little details that make the difference in a card.  I cut the DSP so that the blue striped lines would be right under the blue strip on the sentiment piece.  It just seemed to tie the card together better.  Don't forget when using embossing powder to run your Embossing Buddy over the page first to help prevent tiny bits sticking on the paper where you haven't stamped.  This will give you a much cleaner finish.

Baptismal Grace

Thursday, November 17, 2016

I'm not sure why I went with a pop of red on this card.  I think I was thinking of God's love being poured out upon the newly baptised.  But it seems to work, don't you think?

I'm sorry to bring you a retired product as the main element of this.  One of the fun aspects of card making, for me, is the challenge of "modernising" a design I've come across and love but which has retired products.  Choosing current products changes up the design and allows me to have my own creative input into the base design. Why not give that a go with this card and see what you can come up with by using different patterned paper?
