Just Add Ink #625 | Inspiration

Spring has well and truly sprung in Ballarat and it has been such a delight to see all the beautiful spring flowers blooming in gardens on my daily walks.  What a great time for a spring flower challenge over at Just Add Ink.  Click on the image below to head over to the challenge page, see the Design Team's inspiration, and add your entry.

I loved the layers of flowers in the inspiration photo and created a card that uses masking to add poppies on top of each other.  (I am editing my video tutorial on how to achieve this look so I'll post that as a separate post ASAP and link back here.)

I used Poppy Parade Blends to colour the image (it would be wrong not to given the name!) but I didn't actually do any blending of colours. I used the dark shade on the inside of the flowers and the light on the outer edge.  I often use Blends just to achieve a different shade of colour rather than blending, and am grateful that they extend my range of colours by so much.
