Ornate Borders

Who says the borders of cards have to be straight?  Not I!  This card today uses the Ornate Layers dies to create that fantastic border.  Check out below the back of the card so that you can see how this almost floats on top of it.

Very vintage looking, don't you think?  I used Magenta Madness for the cardbase and the flowers (from the Ornate Style stamp set) which I coloured in using my Blends.  To darken the flower up a bit I also used Real Red as well as my Magenta Madness blends.  For the leaves I choose Old Olive and the tiniest of touches of Daffodil Delight which I also used for the daisies.

My absolutely favourite favourite favourite embellishments at the moment are the Elegant Faceted Gems.  I'm using them on EVERYTHING right now!! (Do yourself a favour and grab a packet or 10 here.)

I stamped the sentiment on the inside because that front card needs no words!  You can see that I trimmed the usual card size down to fit in neatly behind the ornate borders without peeping through.  And best of all, this card stands up just fine!

Would you like a video tutorial on how to colour in flowers like this?  Or showing you a different technique?  Leave me a comment below and let me know what you'd like me to film next for uploading to my YouTube channel.

Happy crafting,
