One Little Christmouse

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

I just love this time of year when I can craft my heart out making Christmas cards and gifts.  I am usually a traditionalist at heart when it comes to Christmas but I love the fun of this stamp set and how it embodies the childhood magic of the season.

Fiona's Notes: I used aqua painters to colour in this little guy.  The stars around him are actually part of the stamp so I taped over them after inking up the stamp in Basic Black and then gave my stamp a good clean before using my Crushed Curry marker pen to ink up the stars and stamp just those around the mouse.  I finished them off with a touch of Wink of Stella (that pen is one of my all time favourite Stampin' Up! products.)

Stamps: Merry Mice  Inks: Basic Black, Crushed Curry, various for colouring  Papers: Whisper White thick, Cherry Cobbler, Pear Pizzaz  Accessories: aqua painter, Wink of Stella clear

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Paula Dobson

Sunday, September 25, 2016

Paul Dobson is the lucky demonstrator that the Crazy Crafters are CASEing (Copy and Selectively Edit) today.  I had fun going through all her creations to pick one out.  Do you, to date I haven't ever picked the same card as another team member?  I wonder if this will be the blog hop that changes all that.

Here is Paula's cute card:

And here's my card CASEing Paula's:

Case Notes:  I cannot believe that this is the first time I have used this gorgeous stamp set!  It was my top pick from the catalogue and I have been working my way through the sets alphabetically so it's taken me a long time to get to it (and I still skipped a few to use it in this blog hop).  I kept Paula's layout and frogged it up!  What do you think?

Stamps: Love you Lots, Balloon Celebration  Inks: Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Garden Green  Papers: Crumb Cake, Whisper White thick, Regals Background DSP  Accessories: Gold Bakers Twine, Aqua pen

Toadstool Birthday

Friday, September 23, 2016

I have had some watercolour paper sitting untouched in my craft cupboard for months so I decided it was high time I used it. I layered it on this notelet card with the very pretty fairy on a toadstool that invokes all sorts of magical dreams.

Fiona's Notes: There are a couple of elements to this card which aren't really noticeable in the photo.  First off, I put a wash of Pool Party behind the image so that the card blended better with the colour strip down the side. Secondly, you might be able to see some splotches on the card.  This is where I flicked my Wink of Stella pen onto the card to give it a touch of fairy magic.

Stamps: Fairy Celebration  Inks: Basic Black, mixture for colouring  Papers: Whisper White note cards, Pool Party, Watercolour paper  Accessories: Linen thread, Wink of Stella clear, Aqua painter

Sticking with a pattern

Tuesday, September 20, 2016

When a pattern for a card works I love trying all sorts of different angles to it.  I loved the pattern of the Wendy Cranford card I CASEd as part of a Crazy Crafters Blog Hop recently and so I've got a few variations on the theme to show you starting with these bright happy floral birthday cards.

Fiona's notes: Sometimes we overlook the little stamps that come in a set.  The Endless Thanks stamp set is mainly a banner with options to make up your own sentiment by combining certain words stamps together.  But these cute flowers are also part of this set and I think this is the first time I'm actually using them.  Go and dig out some of your sets and see what little stamps you have been over looking and maybe you can do a CASE of your own using this as your theme!

Stamps: Endless Thanks, Confetti Celebration  Inks: Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Basic Grey, Smoky Slate, Versmark  Papers: Whisper White thick, Basic Grey  Accessories: Stampin Dimensionals, White Embossing Powder

Little Friends Wedding

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

Don't they make a cute couple?  These little guys are just one of many animals you can create using the fox builder punch.

Fiona's Notes: I know you might think skunks are a little odd for a wedding, but I like to think of them being "too stinkin' cute" together, heehee.

Stamps: Foxy Friends, Timeless Love  Inks: Basic Black, Smoky Slate  Papers: Whisper White thick, Basic Black, Real Red, Vellum  Accessories: Fox Builder Punch, Itty Bitty Flower punch, Stampin Dimensionals, Rhinestones

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Sarah Berry

Sunday, September 11, 2016

Sarah Berry is a beautiful Stampin Up Demonstrator in the UK and today the Crazy Crafters are CASEing (Copy and Selective Edit) a design of hers of our choice.  Here's the card I chose to CASE.

And here is my take on Sarah's card:

CASE Notes: Because my sentiment was only one word I couldn't get the same contrast Sarah has with hers so I used the "shadow" technique and paired up Real Red with Smoky Slate.  Then I highlighted that by adding an extra border to the side of my card and a bit of bling with a rhinestone.

Stamps: Summer Sorbet, Flourishing Phrases  Inks: Real Red, Smoky Slate  Papers: Whisper White thick, Smoky Slate, Real Red  Accessories: rhinestones, stampin dimensionals

Floral Sympathy

Tuesday, September 06, 2016

I have been trying to come up with a sympathy card that doesn't have too many or any embellishments.  I think I've hit just the thing!

Fiona's Notes: I should have taken a photo side on to show you the layers.  I have only popped up the sentiment panel to make it stand out and create dimension without making it a "blingy" card.  Just simple and elegant.

Stamps:Flourishing Phrases  Inks: Night of Navy  Papers: Night of Navy, Whisper White, Floral Boutique DSP  Accessories: Tags and Labels Framelits, Stampin Dimensionals

Sugarplum Fairy

Saturday, September 03, 2016

Ah fairies, the stuff of magic, dreams, and little girls' birthdays!

I got out my notecards and envelopes to make this card because the size fits the design so well.  I love the little stamp of "magic" (I as I call it) and thought the envelope would look fab with a bit of a sparkle on the outside so I stamped it up as well.

Fiona's Notes: There are various ways you can colour with Stampin' Up! products.  You can use aqua painters, blender pens, or you can colour straight up with the Stampin' Write Markers and that's what I've done on this card today. I did, however, use my Aqua Painter with Crisp Cantaloupe for the skin and very lightly went over those areas with ink just to differentiate it from the white background.

Stamps: Fairy Celebration  Inks: Basic Black, Pear Pizzaz  Papers: Whisper White Note Cards and Envelopes  Accessories: Stampin Write Markers, Aqua painter
