Happy Birthday blocks

I have seen lots of cards out there which use a technique called "colour blocking" and have been wanting to try it for a while.  I finally had some inspiration and although the end result was different to the cards I had commonly seen (where they have put images inside the blocks rather than what I did which was to place the sentiment over multiple blocks) I think it turned out really well.  Don't you?  I'm going to try some other types of colour blocking soon because I just love the crisp clean lines and the no-fuss look of the card.

Fiona's notes
  • The trickiest thing about this card is getting the blocks the right size.  Unfortunately I have no tips, I just winged it!  I'd love to hear some easier ways to be able to get it right quickly and easily.
  • I picked the colours from the It's My Party DSP because it's one of my favourite colour combinations.  I just LOVE how they look together.
  • For that extra "oumph" I embossed the sentiment.

Stamps: Sunburst Sayings  Inks: Memento Black, Versamark  Papers: Melon Mambo, Mint Macaron, Crushed Curry  Accessories: Black Embossing Powder, Stampin Dimensionals

Host code: I've put the current host code in the top right hand corner of the page so that you will always know what the current code is.  Enter it at the checkout for all orders under $250 so that I can share the host bonus gifts with you.  (All orders over $250 get their own!  But don't worry, I still send small gifts to those people in the mail.)

Thanks so much for stopping by today,
