It's been a long time since I last used the thumping technique so I made it the focus of my Tuesday Tutorial last week over on my Facebook page.

Have you tried it?  If not, give it a go, it's so easy and looks so effective!

These cards are quick to whip up but look so festive.  Here's Blueberry Bushel and Pineapple Punch:

And here's Lovely Lipstick and Bermuda Bay:

The video is also on my YouTube channel with step by step instructions on the thumping technique and how to make this card.  Grab out some ink, marker pens, and a stamp set and get thumping!

Ink it! Stamp it! Blog hop JULY

Wednesday, July 25, 2018

I love it when the Ink It! Stamp It! design team blog hops with a technique becuase it pushes me to try new ones, or perfect others.

I've long struggled with water colouring.  I can do basics, and I mean, BASIC basics, but I want to get better because there are some breathtakingly gorgeous cards out there where people have used water colouring.  So I got to work practicing, and practicing and then I realised, I can do it!  It just takes time to get to know how the paper reacts to the water and the ink and that watercolour paper can take a lot more water than I ever realised!

So with that, I bring you my super colourful watercolour birthday card!

I absolutely love how the water runs over the page bringing the ink with it and slightly mixing the ink of one colour with the next.

And hey, you can do it too!  Follow my instructions on this week's Tuesday Tutorial where I made one live.

See?  Not hard at all!  Give it a go.  Below is everything you need to make a card like mine, but you can change things up and easily have different colour inks, and a sentiment of your choice.  But first, take a look at everyone else's cards in the blog hop and see what techniques they are showing off.

Baby

Baby Koalas

Sunday, July 15, 2018

I have a lot of friends overseas who I know are going to LOVE this kangaroo/koala combo!  Isn't it a beauty?  I love having baby cards on hand to send when a happy announcement is made so I better get a few more of these made and put into my stash.

Whenever I make baby cards, I always do them in each colour, although, lately everyone I know seems to be having girls so I should probably make double them amount of pinks!

I'm excited to be joining the What Will You Stamp blog challenge this week with these cards as well.  Their challenges feature a different stamp set each week and I don't always have them, so when I do I love to play along.

I coloured up the kangaroo and koala using Blends.  The shading effect they give is just fabulous!

The background is a mixture of two colours of inks which I used my aqua painter to watercolour down on Shimmery White cardstock.  For the girl card I used Melon Mambo and Grapefruit Grove.  For the boy card I used Balmy Blue and Mint Macaron.

And to add to the splash watercolour effect I flicked some ink over the watercolour area which then covered very light the rest of the cardstock.

I am also going to make this the subject of my next Tuesday Tutorial so tune in to make it with me (Facebook Live video - 7.30pm AEST over on my Facebook page.)
