Wrapped Birthdays

Monday, December 31, 2018

These cards are a great way to use up whatever gorgeous Designer Series Paper you have to hand and show it off as the star of the card.

I had some old Tutti Fruitti DSP to use up and it works just perfectly as the wrapping on these "presents."

Pair your DSP with the matching ink and stamp a bow from the Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set then a happy birthday sentiment and tie it off with some bakers twine of choice.  Finally pop the "present" up on dimensionals and bam, snazzy card made and ready to brighten up someone's birthday!

Vertical Birthdays

Thursday, December 27, 2018

Stampin' Up! markers are so versatile.  One of my favourite ways to use them is to colour directly onto the stamp itself.  This way you can colour different parts of the stamp up with different colours and just stamp down once.  Neat, huh?

Above the base colour is Pacific Point, then I've used Soft Suede and Bermuda Bay for the plant.

Above is Blushing Bride as a base, Soft Suede and Lemon Lime Twist for the plant and below is Rose Red plus Soft Suede and Old Olive for the plant.

This close up shows you that stamping this way gives a slight mottled effect to the image.  For a project like this it's perfect!

Bit of something for everyone with this range of colours.

CASED from the catalogue - have you got a copy?  There are loads of ideas for projects so it's an essential to your craft room.  Send me a message if you live in Australia and would like one.

Balloon Celebrations

Sunday, December 23, 2018

My father celebrated his 70th birthday recently and I ordered more balloons than we needed. (Turns out fifty is a LOT!)  It inspired me though to throw balloons around liberally on this card and embrace the abundant nature of birthdays.

Here's my Facebook Live video making the card up showing you how to get the curved effect for the sentiment and how to pop up the Happy Birthday Strip:

You can see it's an easy but fun card and perfect for people of all ages.  It uses Balloon Celebration, Itty Bitty Birthdays (which will be released in January), and the Celebrate You thinlets.  Also, I've used adhesive sheets for the first time ever and LOVE them!

Ink it! Stamp it! Blog hop - SAB & Occasions Catalogues

Friday, December 21, 2018

There's nothing more exciting than a new catalogue of goodies to pour over, is there?  Except perhaps receiving all your eagerly awaited new products when they arrive!  This month the Ink It! Stamp It! Design Team are showcasing products from the new catalogues so you will have loads of inspiration.

As soon as I saw the So Hoppy Together stamp set in the Sale-A-Bration catalogue I just HAD to spend my $90 to get it free and get it into my hot little hands.

Isn't he just the cutest?  I fussy cut him for this card (after colouring him in with the Granny Apple Green Blends) so I feel I got to know him intimately!

I paired him up with two other stamp sets to make this card.  Bella and Friends, for the balloon coloured in Pool Party, and Playful Backgrounds for the circles.  I then coloured in selected circles with my Mango Medley and Daffodil Delight markers.

And then the bling!  To tie these in a little better I coloured the rhinestones with the dark Daffodil Delight Blend before sticking them on.

And don't forget the envelope!!  It's always nice to have a brightly coloured envelope in the mail so I do try and get these decorated to match.

Enjoy hopping through the rest of the design team now and see what projects they have come up with from the Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogues.  Don't know what Sale-A-Bration is?  Click here to read more.

Christmas

Merry Baubles

Thursday, December 20, 2018

Christmas trees full of beautiful glass baubles are just stunning.  I've tried to capture the essence of the delicate glass baubles by water colouring these stamped images from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set.

It's important to clear emboss the image so that the water stays in the lines you want to colour.

I stuck to two colour themes, but you could easily make these as varied as your heart desires!

Fun times with Santa

Wednesday, December 19, 2018

Admittedly I am a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas, but I still love a cute Santa every now and then as a reminder of my magical childhood Christmases.  The So Santa stamp set embraces all the fun of Santa, love seeing him have some fun in the festive period.

I used Blends to colour the image in, but pencils or markers would have worked equally well.

The Designer Series Paper is Festive Farmhouse and would have to be one of my favourite Christmas DSP packs for years.

This DSP has a Whisper White base on one side and a Very Vanilla on the other making it super versatile.

I'm positive Santa would has baked choc-chip biscuits, but my neighbour things they'd be ginger.  What do you think he'd bake?

Hot in the East

Monday, December 17, 2018

On a hot day inspiration can be difficult and so I turn to the much more easy going and less sweaty task of CASEing a few designs.  The Eastern Palace Suite came out with a bang but has been a little forgotten in my box of stamps over the past few months, so out they came today for a play!

Pinterest is a wealth of inspiration for such days as these.  If you don't already follow me to see both my designs and others that I've pinned for inspiration then get on board and follow me today!  Click here to go to my Pinterest page.

Ink it! Stamp it! Blog hop - Christmas

Friday, November 23, 2018

How much fun is Christmas crafting?  I love being able to make up little gifts for my neighbours.  I love it even more when I can add them to a blog post that is part of an international blog hop!

How cute are these little jars?  I've made up three different designs each with a different filling.  The Balmy Blue Snowflake has mints, the Granny Apple Green has red and green M&Ms, and the Real Red surfboarding Santa has Maltesers.

I have a bunch of colleagues from the northern hemisphere who will LOVE this little guy!  They are disappointed about it being summer just now becuase for them Christmas is all about snow.  So, I'll help them see the Christmas magical fun is still alive in Australia.

I picked up the jars from IKEA.  They come in packs of three and not all of them have hearts on them (actually, I didn't mean to buy the heart ones, but hey, now I am all set for Valentine's Day crafting, right?)

Special thanks to Deb Krupa for the design inspiration!

Take a look at my talented design team buddies and see what they have designed for you for Christmas. Blog hop line up:

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop with Dena Rekow

Sunday, November 18, 2018

I've been absent from blog hops for a few months so it's fantastic to be back with my team CASEing (Copy and Selectively Editing) cards of our international guest demonstrators.  Today we are hopping with the super happy, super bright Dena Rekow and I can't wait to show you the card I've made based on her design below:

I was inspired by Dena's colour scheme and the roundness of the flowers and came up with this card:

I've used the Big Wishes stamp set here with my markers rather than an ink pad.  That way I could use the thumping technique to add on the second colour.

I also switched the colours around to see what that would look like and I'm glad I did becuase I think I prefer the colour combination this way.

What do you think?  Flirty Flamingo or Calypso Coral background?

Take a look now at what my teammates have created using Dena's projects for inspiration.

On Stage Melbourne 2018

Sunday, November 11, 2018

Yesterday I went to On Stage in Melbourne and had SO MUCH fun!  On Stage is the an event that any Stampin' Up! demonstrator can attend.  It's held bi-annually in different cities all around the world on the same day which means there are literally thousands of crafters getting together on the same day to join in the fun.

Here's me with a couple of my team mates and several hundred others in background!

The day involves reveals of the new upcoming catalogues, crafting (of course!), LOTS of give aways, food, great music and lots and lots of laughter.  If you are a crafter in Australia and want to come along next year, send me a message to find out how you can as part of my team.

(Here I am with my Stampin' Up besties Jessie, Deb, and Kate.)

Check out my video below to take a look at all the goodies we received and to see some of the new stamp sets coming out in the Occasions Catalogue.

I got so many goodies that I can't wait to share them with you!  Do you follow my Facebook page?  If not, head over and like the page and tune in to my Tuesday Tutorials which is when I have regular spot prizes.

Handlettering Christmas Cards

Saturday, November 03, 2018

I love finding ways to make extra use of my stamp sets.  Who says you have to have a Christmas themed one to make Christmas cards?!  So I pulled out my Handlettering Alphabet stamp set and set to making up cards with Noel as my sentiment.

The Stamparatus makes easy work of producing cards in bulk.  Check out my video below for how I made this card up and how much time is saved by using the Stamparatus!

Enjoy Today

Saturday, July 28, 2018

It's been a long time since I last used the thumping technique so I made it the focus of my Tuesday Tutorial last week over on my Facebook page.

Have you tried it?  If not, give it a go, it's so easy and looks so effective!

These cards are quick to whip up but look so festive.  Here's Blueberry Bushel and Pineapple Punch:

And here's Lovely Lipstick and Bermuda Bay:

The video is also on my YouTube channel with step by step instructions on the thumping technique and how to make this card.  Grab out some ink, marker pens, and a stamp set and get thumping!
